This is the official site of Birdsong Micropress, a lil publishing outfit located in Williamsburg (not the historic one), and is comprised of an array of serialized zines and one-shots by various birdsong writers/artists, and the interview series Five on It. Contributors comprise The Birdsong Collective.

Contest

The funniest things come up when you Google image search “contest.” Mostly, without even specifying, the images are from bikini contests. In retrospect: a doy. There are also lots of “caption this” contests. My favorite being–

bleuuugh

Again: a doy. Also there’s this anti-charming, sexless corporate America uninspired bobblehead thingy that just made me think a thought that I’ve never had before. The thought was, “how can you run if you don’t have feet?”

this picture makes me think of glass scraping on stucco

All this fluff is to say: We’ve finally picked the winners for our Summer 2011 Poetry & Prose Contest.

AAAAAAAnd the winners of the Birdsong Micropress Summer 2011 Poetry & Prose Contest are…

*drumroll please*

Megan Ann McHugh, for her poem “An Arrangement of Holes and Hills,” and Pedro Ponce, for his short story “Invisible Man.”

You will be able to read their winning entries, alongside work by members of the Birdsong Collective, in birdsong #15, coming out next month (we’ll keep you abreast of the release party and reading date, as we figure it out!). Thanks everyone who entered and everyone who tweeted, forwarded, or wrote about it. Yr all the jam.
